Born in 1984, Natalie du Toit started competing internationally in swimming at the age of 14. While still at school, Natalie represented Western Province primary schools for swimming and was awarded Waterbuck colours at the age of 10 which is equivalent of Junior Springbok colours.
Apart from her skill as a swimmer, she has also studied for a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Cape Town, specializing in genetics and physiology.
In 2001 she had to have her left leg amputated at the knee after a traffic accident. When many people might have ended their pursuit of excellence at this loss, Natalie du Toit was more determined than ever to succeed as a swimmer and has gone on to win a string of awards for her amazing and awe-inspiring achievements.
Just some of them are -
- 2004 – gold medals at the Paralympic Games as well as the Commonwealth Games
- 2008 – one of two Paralympians to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing
- 2009 - awarded Ikamanga Gold – for her contribution to sports in South Africa
Her fantastic attitude and her huge success as a swimmer have resulted in her being an inspiration for many people in South Africa and all over the world.
Audiences are riveted as they listen to how they can overcome adversities and with self belief, reach any goal they dream of. Her talks are based on her world-beating achievments and how she deals with the good and bad in the best way possible.

Born in 1974 in Spring, Penny Heyns showed early on that she was going to be a top swimmer, and this earned her a bursary to study at Nebraska University in the USA which meant being exposed to a higher level of competition.
She broke many world records but her moment of glory came in 1999 in Los Angeles where she set four world records in just two days. She became the only woman in Olympic history to win both the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke.
She is the only Breaststroke swimmer to hold the 50M, 100M and 200M Long Course world records simultaneously.
Competing with some of the best swimmers ever has enabled Penny Heyns to gain insight into the world of top athletes, how they got to the top and managed to stay at the top.
On September 20, 2000 Heyns announced her retirement from swimming. Today she addresses audiences around the world, inspiring people to realise their untapped potential and fulfil their dreams.
