The book was serialised by the Sunday Times for over a year, and stayed in the top ten of the UK Sunday Times bestseller list for sixteen months – an incredible feat for any big time writer.

Irish born John Robbie has not only played rugby for Ireland, in 1981 he moved to South Africa and in 1987  he was named one of 5 “Players of the Year”. In 1988 he won the multi-discipline “SuperStars TV Challenge” and was named SA Radio Sports Broadcaster of the Year for two years in a row.

Born in London, Denis Beckett attended University of the Witwatersrand where he attained a BA and LLB. He changed to journalism and published and edited the magazine ‘Frontline’ which won a number of journalist prizes.In 1994 he started with TV, hosting Beckett’s Trek, a weekly series.

He has received a number of awards -  the SFW Award for Enterprising Journalism; the Shell/JCC Four Outstanding Young South Africans citation and the Mondi Magazine Award.
